Help Us Help Alexa’s Family.

12-year-old Alexa Tolsma was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Ewing’s Sarcoma, in 2019, and sadly after fighting for more than 18 months, she passed away in early November. Her family, including her mom, dad, and three brothers, as well as a vast community of friends, are deeply mourning the loss. We hope to help Alexa’s family with mounting medical expenses and their everyday needs during this challenging time.

More on Alexa’s story…

Alexa was a brave warrior fighting cancer with all her might, and everyone was hopeful when she experienced a bout of remission this past spring. She even received her dream of a puppy once in remission! But staying in remission was not to be.

Because of her parents’ vigilance, additional Sarcoma tumors were discovered in August, both in her brain and ribs. She underwent emergency surgery, and they were able to remove 90% of the tumors. Sadly, it returned in less than two months because of the aggressive growth for this type of cancer.

Surrounded by her loved ones at home, Alexa sadly lost her fight with cancer on November 8th. Despite the awfulness of cancer, Alexa every day showed the fight and strength of a true Princess Warrior.

This beautiful young lady, her amazing parents, and three siblings have been through so much. And this is more than any child or family should endure.

During this profound time of healing and grief for the Tolsmas, we would like to help the family by supporting their needs with monetary gifts to cover items such as food, gas, hospital expenses, or whatever else is needed to help their daily requirements.

Join First United’s Week of Giving

Visit the City of Grandville’s Lighted Christmas Trail December 2-5. First United CU is donating light-up necklaces in honor of Alexa with her love of Christmas lights. (While supplies last.)

Please consider donating to the family’s Go Fund Me Page December 7th-9th, and we, First United Credit Union, will match the donations from those days, up to a cumulative $1,500.

If you decide to support the Radiothon, we’ll match your donation — up to $2,000 — in honor of Alexa and her story during our sponsored times. The hospital knows Alexa very well and of her family’s situation, and everyone has been incredibly supportive throughout this challenging journey.

We’ll also be sharing Alexa’s story on our social media channels. Follow us!

Anyone who shares our Facebook post to support the Tolsma’s Go Fund Me Page will be entered into a drawing for an RTIC Cooler filled with goodies. It’s just one more way we want to help the Tolsma Family.

Prayers are always welcome.
