A Stronger, Better Credit Union Awaits…
Our Membership Has Approved The Merger!
On May 23, 2023, our membership approved the merger with North Central Area Credit Union, a strong and growing credit union headquartered in Houghton Lake, Michigan.
We’re thrilled for this opportunity, offering a match of cultural values and enhanced service and talents. As one unified credit union, we’ll be able to serve you in new and exciting ways and leverage our abilities to the fullest, which will benefit everyone. Together, we are growing on July 1, 2023.
Remember, we are — and will continue to be — a strong and financially safe credit union.
We remain a state-chartered credit union, and funds remain federally insured by the NCUA. You can rest easy, knowing we are strong, safe, and your money is secure.
We’re moving forward!
As we join forces with North Central Area Credit Union, our name will become “NCACU, a division of North Central Area Credit Union.” The formal change will occur next month as we unite into a single, strong entity, resulting in a $230 million organization serving more than 20,000 members.
Check out our new logo:
We’ve designed this logo to mesh with NCACU while keeping our “First United vibe.” However, it will take time for the logo to be fully replaced in our Grandville office and included in northern Michigan locations. Our brand transition to NCACU will occur in varying stages, and we ask for your patience as we make this shift. The Grandville office may see some bare signage areas or other renovations. So, please pardon our dust!
Our social media presence will also shift to NCACU. We encourage you to like the NCACU Facebook page.
Additional changes:
New bylaws and disclosures:
With our merger approval, our bylaws will formally change to those of NCACU. As we combine the two organizations, some fees or balance requirements may adjust for consistency, and certain products may merge. We recently mailed a packet outlining these changes, including a new fee schedule and Membership disclosure. All disclosures can also be found on the NCACU website.
Easy Access:
There will be some tweaks to how you access your accounts. Things may look slightly different, but functionality will remain largely the same.
- For digital access: Online Banking and your Mobile App will function the same but look different with our updated logo and colors. You’ll log into accounts using the same credentials but may be rerouted to NCACU.org. Please save NCACU.org as a favorite!
- For phone calls, payments, and mailing needs: As a First United Credit Union member, you’ll continue to contact the Grandville location directly. Later in 2024, we may route mail and phone calls to our new administration building in Houghton Lake. These changes should be invisible to you.
- Watch your mail and email for details on these upcoming changes.
Remember, there will be no hardship to you, our members, during this transition. As changes occur, we’ll work to ensure they are in your favor.
Rest assured:
We’re excited about this collaboration of efforts, talents, and systems. Under the NCACU name, our unique First United CU service culture will continue, and I (Mark Richter) will remain your CEO. Our commitment to the Grand Rapids community will not waver, no jobs will be lost, and the merger will be a win-win for all!
As a compassionate, safe place to bank, we’ll work with you in every situation — and our caring culture will continue.
